Sorry Our Cats Had A Problem...
Wowwie wow wow! It’s been a loooong time since we’ve posted anything. Sorry! :( And sorry to ourselves… that means we haven’t been recording our “beerventures”! Well… our cats have gotten in a bad way… we had to keep them away from the booze.
But then Tim gave Donut and Emo (yes… our cats are really named that) a much needed...

Oh Snap! You got iced!...By Mayor Bloomberg?
Mayor of NYC, Mayor Bloomberg, cut the ribbon at the Brooklyn Brewery’s opening of their huge expansion in Williamsburg this past Monday, and while he was there said something that probably equates to the sound of nails scratching on a chalkboard to beer drinkers…. He said “I actually put ice in my beer”. Ice in your beer!? Sacrilege. And he apparently got smack for it too from a lot of writers...

Snow and Suds, a Trip up to Mt. Snow and Back!
Ahhhhh VT. For us New Jersey kids, it’s such a treat to be able to walk into a gas station store or 7-11 and a bunch of choices of great VT microbrews to pick from for a quick run. And every winter we get this treat, along with a few of our friends on our annual snowboard/ski trip to a mountain in VT. This year we hit up Mt. Snow! Great mountain to hit up for a long weekend, not too far...

Après-Snowboarding At Blue Mountain
We know, we know, it’s technically “apres-ski”, but the both of us snowboard, and so do a bunch of our friends. Either way, it’s still going and having drinks after a day on the mountain, and as people that ski or ride know, it’s a great feeling to kick back with a drink after shredding all day. This past weekend we took a day (not D-A-I-Y-E) trip with a couple of...

Hoppy New Beers in the New Year!
Happy new year everyone! Tim and some of our friends got gifted some new brewing gear, so we decided to spend some time on the first weekend of the year being ambitious with said friends, with attempting to rock out brewing 4 batches of beer. Two extract recipes and two all grain! We had an imperial IPA and a black IPA to try out with the all grains, and a Chinook IPA (all bought from Norther...

Hoppy Holidays from Beer Club NJ!
Our new article on www.Beerclubnj.com!
Season’s greetings from Beer Club NJ! This is a crazy time of year, and I’m sure a lot of people are out there running around grabbing gifts last minute for the holidays. (We know we are!) But let us help you out a little with our 2 cents. Beer is becoming more widely thought of as gifts like wine lately, so why not think of cutting down your running...

Naptown Beer Scene on the Up & Up
A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to hit up the great city of Indianapolis for a work conference (Exact Target’s Connections 2010). Always good to get away from the office for a couple of days to explore a city, especially when it’s one you have never rolled out to. Personally, my favorite part about these trips is the opportunity to seek out the absolute best local beers,...

Baking With Beer!
After a brew session with Tim and Scotty a while ago, I saved some spent grain and froze it with hopes I’d find something to do with it baking wise. This past weekend our good friend Karl (aka Hungus, Papa K, Nice guy extraordinaire) had his annual “Hungusfest” party. It’s a great, huge party he goes all out for, but we’ll write about that in another post since...

With our powers combined, we are... BEER CLUB NJ!
So while grabbing a drink and a friendly game of boccie ball with buddies James and Murph at The Tap Room, we got into talking about the beer club they are founding member of and how they have been talking more and more about how to blow it up. Tim, being a marketing nerd, and Cindy being an aspiring marketing nerd, we all realized a great, fun, opportunity for us! We love social media, we love...

Beer me please!
We haven’t really been able to sit and drink a new beer or review it lately because of 4th of July weekend bbqs, bike riding and taco trucks! But here’s a quick rundown of some of our beer happenings int he past week or so….
- The most awesomess thing was one of our favorite places to drink great beer, The Stirling Hotel, added a taco truck to their facitlities! Awesome!

Beer and Photo Project! First Stop, Fun With Hop...
Cindy has decided to take 2 things she loves (photography and beer) and put them together! So every week or so we’re going to try a new beer (or revisit an old favorite) and she’s going to base a photo on it. (check out my photo blog!) This first one is based on the Southern Tier Hop Sun. Such a great summer beer!
The Hop Sun is their wheat beer, dry hopped with 1 type of hop. It...

Brooklyn Buzz Bombing Blast!
We started the day by grabbing some coffee, the one and only Scootle Toots and hopped on a train for a Sunday Funday field trip to Brooklyn to go on the Brooklyn Brewery tour! One NJ transit train, 2 subways, and 2 hours later we submerged from the subway and pulled the traditional out of towner move by pulling our phones out, looking left, right , left again, clearly not knowing what direction...

Hops From Mordor
And like any nerd and/or really anyone that’s heard of Lord of the Rings (if you haven’t you is behind in the times) you know what is referred to in the title. The new beer we tried this weekend was the Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere 2010 Fresh Hop Ale. This brew gots hops from New Zealand that were picked, dried, and shipped within a few days of harvest. (it says so on the...

Summer Evening of Saisons!
This past Friday night we were feeling bunk from the summer heat, and decided we needed a pick me up. And a pick me up we got! A buddy of ours surprised us with a bottle of the Stone, Dogfish Head, and Victory collaboration, Saison Du Buff. This trifecta of breweries, took Simon and Garfunkel’s Scarboro Fair and put it in a bottle of deliciousness with the herbs parsley, sage, rosemary...

Rattle and Hum, NYC
This weekend we ventured this crazy windy weekend to Central Park to take some engagement pictures for our friends, Jenny and Dan. As payment they offered to take us out to dinner and have some brews! We then suggested Rattle and Hum. It was a recomentdation from our friend (thanks Karyn!) which we had checked out one time, and their food and beer selection brought us back. This beer bar has a...

The VORTEX.
It sounds pretty bad ass. THE VORTEX! Even knowing that all vortex means is a spiral motion of fluids, it still sounds pretty bad ass. Anywhoo, Miller took this bad ass word and turned it into a marketing scheme. We noticed it this weekend while out at the “hoppin bars” in Morristown, NJ for a co-ed bachlorette party. I (Cindy) ended up opting to order Miller Lights for the...

Cinco De Beer
We know we know its not Pacifico, Dos Equis, Sol or even Corona but tonight on the docket is the Rogue Chatoe First Growth Single Malt Ale the first new beer from this one of my top five breweries i’ve seen on the east coast in awhile. This brew is a representation of their new GYO (Grow Your Own) motto with their first growth Dare Malt and first growth Revolution Hops. Extremely...

First Wet Hot American Brewing Sunday Funday This...
This past weekend was killer hot…. the first Sunday of the year where our cats were actually visually effected by the heat. Either that or they were having a super lazy Sunday. Lucky for Tim he was scheduled for a brew day with some buddies! Coincidentally it happened to be AHA’s National Big Brew Day on Sat. to celebrate National Homebrew Day! Unlucky for me, I was scheduled to...

Tap NY 2010!
We went to TAP NY at Hunter Mountain in NY on April 24th. It’s our favorite beer festival we’ve experienced so far. We went last year with 6 other friends and had a blast! This year we rolled in deep with over 20 in our crew because that’s how we do. It’s a great festival because its got over 36 local NY craft breweries AND is a food festival as well! This year’s...
